St Olaf’s Way, Day 1

Miles: 13
Hamar to Brumenndal
Staying at: PILEGRIMSHERBERGET KONFIRMANTSALEN
Cost: 100 kroner

We got a late start: 10:10. We had a great breakfast of eggs and lox and all manner of goodies at a hostel near one of the Olympic stadiums left over from Lillehammer 1994. Norwegian breakfast gives and gives. There are no sweets: bread, fish, eggs, cheese, and sausage.

We finally began walking with the pain of our heavy packs impacting each step.

We found this cute Viking Ship on the lake in Hamar.

Church ruins (it was the Swedes during the reformation).

Before the Swedes.

A marker for the path, still a ways to go.

Hard to see, but this is a zip lining course with lots of challenges. Tons of kids up there doing scary things. It went on and on and would not be allowed without a lot of insurance in the USA.

Picknicking on the lake

This photo does not adequately represent the beauty of the farmlands and the intensity of the green.

The last six miles were some kind of hell with nearly all body parts aching and screaming. Yay for Day 1!

We finally made our way to this hostel with several beds, laundry, and a kitchen. The view fro my window is at 10:00 pm!
